Ingredients :

Methu Vadai / Ulundu Vadai / Urad dal Vadai Ingredients


Ulundu / Urad Dal - 1 cup
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Green Chili - 1 no (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk (chopped)
Crystal Salt or Salt to taste.

Method :

Steps To Make Methu Vadai Batter :
  • First soak the urad dal for atleast 1 hour and drain all excess water.


  • Grind the soaked urad dal in grinder or mixi with 2 tsp of water, sprinkle little by little and add required Salt. ( use grinder for best taste) (if vadai batter came wattery means add little rice powder).


Steps To Make Methu Vadai :
  • Combine vadai batter, onion, green chili and curry leaves in a bowl.


  • Heat enough oil to deep fry the vadai.
  • Wet your right hand, make a small ball out of batter, pat it and make a small hole in middle and then deep fry in hot oil on both sides, in a medium flame until golden brown and ready to serve.


Serving Suggestion : Serve hot wtih Jaggery Pongal, Ven Pongal, Coconut Chutney and Sambar .
