Simple Raw Banana / Vazhakkai Puttu


Raw Banana / Vazhakkai Puttu


Ingredients :

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai Puttu

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai - 2 nos (boiled & grated)
Small Onion - 10 nos (chopped)
Garlic - 5 nos (crushed or chopped)
Green Chili - 2 no (finely chopped)
Coconut Shreds - 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal / Black Gram (skinless, split) - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stks
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to Taste.

Method :

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai Puttu

  • First boil Raw Banana in Pressure Cooker for 1 whistle and 2mins in simmer, when all the steam has escaped, open Pressure Cooker (or boil for 15mins). Let it cool.
  • Then remove skin and grat it.

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai Puttu

  • Now heat Oil in a Kadai, to Temper, add Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal, after splutter add Onion, Garlic, Green Chili and Curry Leaves, saute until light golden brown.
  • Then add grated Raw Banana and required Salt, saute for 2mins to 3mins.
  • Finally add Coconut Shred and stir well for few seconds and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Dal or Sambar
