Sweet and Sour Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai Fry


Ingredients :

Sweet and Sour Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai Fry

Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai - 1 no (thin slice and remove seeds)
Tamarind Water - 1 cup (1" ball size)
Red Chili Powder - 1/2 cup
Gram Flour / Kadalai Maavu - 1 tsp
Corn Flour - 1 tsp
Rice Flour - 1 tsp
Jagger / Achu Vellam - 1 piece (powder)
Oil to Fry
Salt to taste.

Method :

Sweet and Sour Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai Fry

  • First Boil Tamarind Water with 1 tsp Salt, then add chopped Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai, cook for 5mins and drain it.

Sweet and Sour Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai Fry

  • Now in a bowl, mix Corn flour, Rice Flour, Gram Flour, Red Chili Powder and required Salt, add boiled Bitter Gourd / Pavakkai and mix well.
  • Then Deep fry in Oil until golden brown.
  • Then immediately mix with Jaggery powder and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Toor Dal or Sambar
