Raw Banana / Vazhakkai / Raw Plantain Poriyal with Curd


Ingredients :

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai / Raw Plantain Poriyal with Curd

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai - 1 Large size (skin peeled off, immerse in water)
Curd - 2 tbsp
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Water - 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Method :

Raw Banana / Vazhakkai / Raw Plantain Poriyal with Curd

  • Heat Oil in a Kadai, add Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal, after splutter add Onion and Curry Leaves, saute until light golden brown colour.
  • Add Raw Banana, saute for an minute.
  • Then add Turmeric Powder and Asafoetida, saute for few seconds.
  • Add Red Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, Cumin Seeds Powder and required Salt, saute for an minute.

  • Add Water and close the lid, cook for 5mins in medium flame until there should not be Water.
  • Add Curd and saute for an minute.
  • Finally add Coriander Leaves and saute for few seconds, ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Sambar Rice or Dal Rice or Curd Rice
