Simple Ivy Gourd Poriyal / Kovakkai Poriyal


Ingredients :

Simple Ivy Gourd Poriyal / Kovakkai Poriyal

Ivy Gourd / Kovakkai - 250 gm (finely sliced)
Onion - 1 no (finely chopped)
Coconut Shreds - 2 tbsp
Dry Red Chili - 3 nos (slit)
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste.

Method :

Simple Ivy Gourd Poriyal / Kovakkai Poriyal

  • First to temper, heat Oil in a kadai, add Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal, after splutter, add Onion, Curry Leaves and Dry Red Chili, saute until light golden colour.
  • Add Ivy Gourd / Kovakkai, saute for 7 to 10mins in simmer.

  • Finally add Coconut Shred and turn off flame, mix well and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Sambar Rice or Village Sambar
