Drumstick Poriyal | Murungakkai Poriyal | முருங்கக்காய் பொரியல்


Ingredients :

Drumstick Poriyal | Murungakkai Poriyal | முருங்கக்காய் பொரியல்

Drumstick - 1 no (chopped, 2"long)
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Coconut Paste -  2 tbsp
Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 1 tbsp
Water - 1 and 1/2 cup
Salt to taste.

Method :

  • Heat Oil in a Kadai, first temper Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal, after splutter add Onion and Curry Leaves, saute until light golden brown colour.
  • Then add Drumstick and saute for 1/2 a minute.
  • Then add Red Chili Powder, Cumin Seeds Powder, Turmeric Powder and required Salt, saute for 1/2 a minute.

  • Then add Coconut paste and Water, mix well and cook for 10 to 15mins in simmer, stirring frequently, until water reduced and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Sambar or Village Sambar
