Ivy Gourd with Onion Poriyal | Kovakkai Poriyal | கோவைக்காய் பொரியல்


Ingredients :

Ivy Gourd with Onion Poriyal | Kovakkai Poriyal | கோவைக்காய் பொரியல்

Ivy Gourd / Kovakkai - 250 gm (finely chopped)
Onion - 1 no (chopped)
Dry Red Chili - 4 nos
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stk
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Method :

  • First to make Onion Paste, heat 2 tsp of Oil in a Kadai, fry dry Red Chili for few seconds, then add Onion and saute until light golden brown colour.
  • Cool it, grind into paste and keep aside.

  • Then again heat remaining Oil in a kadai, temper Mustard Seeds, Urad Dal and Curry Leaves, then add Ivy Gourd / Kovakkai, cook for 3mins, stirring frequently.
  • Add ground paste, mix well and again cook for 2 to 3mins. Ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve with Sambar or Village Sambar
