Ingredients :

Karunai Kizhangu Varuval | Senai Kizhangu Varuval | Elephant Yam Fry | சேனைக்கிழங்கு வறுவல்

Yam \ Senai Kizhangu - 250 gm (sliced)
Tamarind - 1 " ball size
Water - 3 cups
Oil for fry
Salt to Taste.

To Marinate :

Kashmir Red Chili Powder - 2 tsp (or Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp)
Fennel Seeds Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds Powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Garlic - 6 cloves (crushed)
Salt to Taste.

Steps To Make Karunai | Senai Kizhangu Varuval :
  • Boil the water with turmeric powder, tamarind ball and required Salt.
  • Add in sliced karunai \ yam \ senai Kizhangu.
  • Cook for 3 mins until 3/4 done, drain the water and allow to cool completely.

  • Then marinate the yam \ senai \ karunai kizhangu with mentioned ingredients for 15mins.

  • Finally shallow fry the marinated yam \ senai \ karunai kizhangu with required oil and ready to serve.

Serving Suggestion : Serve hot with Kootu or Sambar or Dal
